Meet the Leaders
Raphael Onuoha - President
Hi! My name is Raphael Onuoha, and I'm a co-founder and the president of BrainReach. From a young age, I always looked towards the future, specifically, one full of scientific advancement. However, having originated from a community with little resources and STEM involvement, I started BrainReach in order to empower kids just like me who wish to learn about the crux of human existence- the brain- and have a little fun along the way! Outside of the non-profit, I research neural connectomics in Drosophila at the University of Michigan and participate in Science Olympiad. I also work as a tutor through TTC and a courtesy clerk at Kroger!
Aaryan Senthilvanan - Vice President
Hey there! My name's Aaryan Senthilvanan, and I'm the Co-Founder and Vice President of BrainReach.
I believe that access to neuroscience and mental health education shouldn't be a privilege. It should be a right. That principle is what drove me to co-found BrainReach, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to bringing engaging, accessible neuroscience and psychology education to underserved middle and high school students across Michigan.
Outside of BrainReach, I'm a published researcher with work in pharmacology and philosophy. My first-authored paper on Bravizine (a novel computational therapeutic for Tardive Dyskinesia) was published in In-Silico Pharmacology, and I'm currently preparing a re-run publication with in-vitro data that's reached the final review stage at the British Journal of Pharmacology. My second paper on the neural correlates of existential engagement is accepted for publication in top philosophy journals. I conduct research across Stanford, Caltech, University of Michigan, Wayne State, and Boston Bridgewater, focusing on pharmacology, molecular modeling, and neuropsychiatry. I'm also the founder of AL-MDI, a web-based molecular dynamics platform currently being adopted by scholars at Google and professors internationally.
Beyond research, I'm the founder of S.Y.A.L.I.S, where I've mentored 150+ student researchers, and a published author of two novels exploring mental health. I'm a Varsity State Champion tennis player, founder of TEDxIAC, and serve on the Board of Directors for the Young Researchers Institute.
BrainReach represents everything I believe in: curiosity, accessibility, and the transformative power of education. If we can spark even one student's interest in understanding the brain, we've opened a door they might never have known existed. And that's worth everything.
Rhea Rebba - Secretary
Hello! My name is Rhea Rebba and I’m a co-founder and secretary for BrainReach. From a young age I’ve always had the drive and compassion to become a medical professional. From researching to actively shadowing various physicians, I’ve gained a new perspective on the medical field. I co-founded BrainReach because their message aligned with mine; getting more kids excited to learn about neuroscience. But outside of STEM, I love to draw, paint, and crochet! I’m a classically trained dancer, and a proud alumni of Abhinaya School of Dance. I’m proud to be apart of BrainReach, and I hope we can reach even more kids and encourage them to pursue medicine!
Sarah Zhang - Treasurer
Hello! My name is Sarah Zhang, and I am the treasurer of BrainReach. My fascination with neuroscience stemmed from an early age, deeply curious about the ways our brain shapes human behavior and health. I decided to join Brain Reach because I believe that everyone, regardless of background or community, should have the chance to learn about the fascinating world of neuroscience. Outside of this non-profit I love to read, play music, and hang out with friends! I am proud to be apart of BrainReach, as I hope to empower kids like us to pursue their passion for neuroscience!
