Behind the Mission.

From a young age, I looked toward the future: one full of scientific advancement. Growing up in a community with limited access to STEM resources, I started BrainReach to empower kids just like me to explore the crux of human existence, and to realize their own dreams start with understanding the brain.

My favorite philosopher, Jack Symes, once noticed that we call things “great” mostly for taking up more time or space than usual — the Great Wall, the Great Fire. I've never thought change works that way, and neither does the brain: no single neuron is great, yet every thought you'll ever have is billions of them firing at once, and learning is really just small signals repeated until they hold. I co-founded BrainReach on that same bet — that showing up for one more workshop, one more kid, on a weekend nobody is watching, aggregates into something real. If a kid catches a droplet of curiosity from us, I want to make sure it never stops falling.

From a young age I've had the drive and compassion to become a medical professional. Between researching and shadowing physicians, I've gained a real perspective on what the field demands. BrainReach's message aligned with mine completely: getting more kids excited about the brain, and about the futures they could build around it.

My fascination with neuroscience started early, curious about the ways our brain shapes behavior, health, and who we become. I joined BrainReach because I believe every kid, regardless of background, deserves the chance to discover how fascinating their own mind really is, and to dream a little bigger because of it.

Psychology has always fascinated me, and I think everyone should understand how and why we think, because that understanding makes the world a little more compassionate. I help with coordination, logistics, and education at BrainReach, and I'm endlessly proud of the kids we've gotten excited about their own brains.
